Platform Engineer
Manchester - 2 days per week
Millions of customers. One proprietary platform. Infinite possibilities.
This global technology business has just completed a massive migration to their own platform, and now, the stage is set for scale, innovation, and speed. Products are being built at pace, technology is unlocking new capabilities, and the experiences delivered to customers worldwide are next-level.
They're looking for a Platform Engineer to help build, operate and continuously improve the platforms that underpin their engineering teams. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working across infrastructure, automation, and developer tooling, helping engineering teams build, deploy, and run software more efficiently.
Working closely with Platform Engineers and product teams, you'll play a key role in improving reliability, reducing operational overhead, and driving modern Platform Engineering and DevOps practices across the business.
Their core application platform is built on.NET, with services communicating via WebAPI, WCF, and RabbitMQ. They manage large volumes of data using MySQL and MongoDB, operating a hybrid infrastructure across AWS and on-premises VMware. As they continue migrating services to Kubernetes, you'll have the opportunity to work with cloud-native technologies, GitOps, and Argo CD.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
