Platform Engineer - £650/day via Umbrella - 6 Month Contract - Manchester / London / Birmingham - Hybrid - SCC Flex Contract

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to support the build, automation, and optimisation of modern cloud and infrastructure platforms within a large enterprise environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Platform Engineer to drive platform reliability, scalability, and automation while working across high-profile transformation programmes.

Your Responsibilities as the Platform Engineer:

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available platform solutions.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support application and infrastructure deployments.
  • Automate operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to implement platform best practices.
  • Monitor platform performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Support cloud migration and modernisation initiatives across enterprise environments.
  • Ensure platform solutions align with security, governance, and compliance requirements.

As a Successful Platform Engineer, You Will Have:

  • Proven experience working as a Platform Engineer within enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong experience with cloud technologies including Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Strong knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or equivalent.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud technologies or DevOps practices would be advantageous.
