Platform Engineer Contract
📍 London | Hybrid, 2 to 3 days/week in office
💷 Circa £520/day | Inside IR35

📅 6-month initial contract (long term extension likely)
We're recruiting a Site Reliability Engineer to own and operate the backend data layer behind a fan facing digital platform, partnering closely with external suppliers to keep integrations robust, observable, and performing at scale.
What you'll do
- Own the design, operation, and continuous improvement of production NoSQL database tables
- Manage capacity, performance, and cost across on demand/provisioned scaling, hot partitions, and query tuning
- Own resilience and recovery: PITR, backups, restores, multi-region patterns
- Own security controls: IAM least privilege, KMS encryption, access auditing, secrets management
- Maintain runbooks, dashboards, alerting, and lead incident response
- Build and operate server side AWS components: Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions
- Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code for repeatable, auditable delivery

What you'll need
- Strong hands on NoSQL/DynamoDB in production (data modelling, indexes, performance and cost tuning)
- Experience building backend services on AWS Lambda and/or containerised services, plus API Gateway
- Event driven integration experience using SQS/SNS/EventBridge or equivalent
- Strong observability and ops mindset: monitoring, alerting, on call/incident handling, root cause analysis
- Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK)
- Confident coding in TypeScript/Node.js, Python, or Java
