Role: Platform Engineer

Type: Contract - Inside IR35

Location: Sheffield, UK

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain cloud native platform services supporting enterprise IAM solutions
  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters and platform infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for automated deployments
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployment workflows
  • Manage cloud networking, connectivity, and platform security controls
  • Implement observability solutions including logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing
  • Automate platform provisioning, configuration management, and operational activities
  • Support deployment and operation of identity platform components and services
  • Implement secrets management and certificate lifecycle automation
  • Configure service mesh technologies and secure service-to-service communications
  • Manage ingress controllers, API gateways, routing, and platform networking components
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and resilience capabilities
  • Support workload identity and platform authentication mechanisms
  • Ensure platform compliance with security governance and regulatory standards
  • Optimize platform scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Develop operational tooling, automation scripts, and self-service platform capabilities
  • Support incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with Security Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver secure platform services
  • Maintain platform documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation and platform engineering best practices

  • Strong Cloud Platform Engineering experience with GCP
  • Expertise in Kubernetes Administration and Container Platforms
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of GitOps deployment methodologies
  • Linux administration and troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and cloud connectivity
  • Experience with Service Mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy
  • Knowledge of Secrets Management and secure credential handling
  • Experience with PKI and Certificate Management
  • Understanding of Workload Identity concepts
  • Experience implementing observability solutions including logging, monitoring, and tracing
  • Strong scripting and automation skills
  • Experience working within DevSecOps and SRE environments
  • Knowledge of performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational support
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or global platform deployments
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
