Platform Engineer

Contract Length: 1 Year Rolling

Location: Hybrid - London, 3 days a week

IR35 Status: Inside

Summary:

We're hiring platform engineers to build and operate the secure, self-service platform that lets teams develop, evaluate, deploy and monitor AI products consistently.

This is a platform engineering role first AI-specific knowledge is welcome but can be developed on the job. What's non-negotiable is solid platform engineering discipline.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing reusable environments, pipelines, templates, SDKs and deployment capabilities
  • Integrating approved models, data sources, identity systems, secrets and enterprise tools
  • Building observability for quality, latency, usage, cost, security and operational health
  • Automating policy enforcement, evidence collection and environment promotion
  • Establishing reliable runtime capabilities for agents, tools, retrieval and scheduled workflows
  • Operating the platform with clear service levels, incident management and capacity planning
  • Improving developer experience through documentation, paved roads and self-service workflows
  • Managing platform security, resilience, lifecycle, portability and vendor dependencies

What we're looking for

  • A cloud or platform engineer experienced in infrastructure as code, CI/CD, containers, identity, observability and production operations
  • Someone who can pick up AI-specific concepts quickly deep platform engineering fundamentals matter more
  • A problem-solver mindset, comfortable working across multiple business areas rather than a single fixed remit
  • MBB consulting background (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) is a strong plus, though not required for this role

How this works

  • Open to contract or permanent hire
  • UK-based candidates: ideally on-site 3 days a week
  • Candidates based outside the UK: on-site 3 days every fortnight, with flights and accommodation covered for the right candidate with consulting-firm pedigree
  • All contract engagements sit inside the scope of IR35
