Job Description

Role Overview

A well-established tech company in Stockport is looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join their team. They've recently completed a large-scale migration from their traditional data centre into Google Cloud Platform and are now looking for someone to help them improve, maintain and develop their cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Joining a small and experienced Platform team
  • Working closely with Software Engineers to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and performing well
  • Focus on incremental improvements, including improving automation, monitoring, and reliability
  • Refactoring where necessary and making the platform easier for development teams to work with

Technologies

  • GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, FluxCD, and GitHub
  • Predominantly Linux-based environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong Linux infrastructure and troubleshooting skills
  • Docker and containerised environments
  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
  • Monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting production systems
  • Cloud platforms - ideally GCP or AWS
  • CI/CD and deployment tooling
  • Previous GCP experience is useful but not essential
  • Strong AWS background with solid experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
  • Enjoys troubleshooting problems, digging through logs, and understanding why something isn't working
