Platform Engineer | Kubernetes, IaC, Automation - Oxfordshire - £60,000 - £65,000

Before you read on, ask yourself:

  • Do you have genuine, hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production, not just in a lab or side project?
  • Are you comfortable being in the office 4 days a week, working closely with the team rather than remotely?
  • Are you someone who brings their 'A' game to work every day?

If you answered yes to all three, keep reading.

About the Role

This Platform Engineering function builds and operates the foundations the rest of engineering relies on, covering infrastructure, delivery pipelines, observability and the services that keep software teams moving fast and shipping safely.

The team sits within the Software Engineering & Data group.

If you're a mid-level Platform Engineer, or a DevOps Engineer looking to make the move into platform engineering, this one's worth a conversation.

You'll be joining a team of four, reporting into the Lead Platform Engineer, working alongside Data Engineers across the breadth of platform engineering rather than specialising in a single domain.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements

As a Platform Engineer, you'll need:

  • Solid, hands-on production Kubernetes experience. Not lab work, not a side project. Real production exposure, and genuinely enjoying working with it.
  • A good grounding in infrastructure as code. Terraform or OpenTofu experience that goes beyond running someone else's modules.
  • A strong automation mindset and comfortable scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
  • An appreciation for observability as part of how you build, not something bolted on afterwards, using logs, metrics and traces to catch and troubleshoot issues.

You won't need to have built CI/CD pipelines from scratch. There are existing pipelines in place, so what matters more is your attitude towards improving and maintaining them well.

What matters just as much as the technical side is how you work with people. This is a genuine team environment. You'll attend project meetings and have a real voice; ideas are welcomed and encouraged, but this isn't a place for a lone wolf who goes off and does their own thing.

Everything you touch affects the rest of the team and the wider business, so an appreciation for process and why things are done a certain way matters as much as technical skill.

What's in it for you:

  • You'll join a group that values technical excellence over speed for its own sake, and genuine collaboration over silos. This is a true career opportunity, not just a job, with real room to grow as the platform and the team continue to expand.
  • On top of the £60,000 to £65,000 salary, you'll get a great benefits package including private medical healthcare, a company pension scheme, a car scheme, a free on-site gym, a subsidised restaurant, and a holiday buy-back scheme.

Applicants must have a permanent right to work in the UK. No sponsorship on offer for this one.

If that sounds like you, or you know someone it might suit, drop me a message or give me a call on 07791 615703.
