Job Title: Platform Engineer

Location: Leeds or London, UK (3 days per week on-site; travel & accommodation expenses covered)

Position Type: Permanent

Salary: £80,000 – £85,000 GBP per annum (Flexible for exceptional candidates)

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance Required

Notice Period: Immediate Joiners or up to 2 Weeks Max

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable platform solutions. In this role, you will optimize AWS resources, drive automation across CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate directly with development and strategy teams to elevate engineering standards across the organization.

Note: This role requires 3 days per week on-site in either Leeds or London. Expenses for travel and accommodation (up to 3 days/week) will be provided for candidates traveling to the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform & Infrastructure Management: Design, build, and maintain cloud-based (AWS) resources, ensuring optimal performance, monitoring, and reliability.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain hands-on CloudFormation scripts and templates.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Implement and manage automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (multibranch, Groovy scripting) and GitHub Actions for secure deployments.
  • Architecture Strategy: Feed engineering insight into the Strategy and Architecture team to improve engineering practices across the organization.
  • System Operations: Manage Linux-based web services, containerized environments, and configuration management tools.
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Document operational procedures, infrastructure policies, and deployment frameworks.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 10–15 years of relevant engineering experience with a solid background as a Senior Platform Engineer.
  • Security Clearance: Must hold an Active UK SC Clearance.
  • IaC & AWS: Strong hands-on experience with AWS CloudFormation (scripting, debugging, and troubleshooting is mandatory) alongside core AWS services (EC2, NLB, API Gateway, ASG).
  • CI/CD & Scripting: Proficiency in Jenkins pipeline creation/Groovy scripting, GitHub Actions, and Python scripting.
  • Containers & Config Management: Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Chef.
  • OS & Web Services: Solid foundation in Linux command-line operations and troubleshooting web services.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work seamlessly across development, infrastructure, and product teams to streamline software delivery.
