Senior Platform Engineer
Risk Services & Calculation Infrastructure

We're partnering with a leading UK organisation as they continue to invest heavily in their technology landscape. As part of a strategic transformation programme, they're looking to hire a Senior Platform Engineer /Manager to help build the next generation of risk and analytical services that underpin investment decision-making across the business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys building robust, scalable platforms and wants to work on systems where reliability, performance and engineering excellence are critical.
The Opportunity
You'll be responsible for designing, building and operating the core platform services that power portfolio analytics, risk calculations and analytical workloads.
Working closely with Quantitative Developers, Data Engineers and Technology leaders, you'll develop the middle tier that connects data, models and business applications, ensuring complex calculations can be executed securely, reliably and at scale.
This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and would suit someone who enjoys solving complex platform challenges while influencing engineering standards and best practice.

What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and developing scalable Python-based services and APIs.
- Building cloud-native platforms supporting analytical and risk workloads.
- Developing orchestration frameworks for batch and on-demand calculations.
- Managing containerised environments and distributed compute services.
- Implementing monitoring, observability and operational tooling.
- Building resilient services with fault tolerance, recovery and retry capabilities.
- Creating CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Ensuring security, governance and auditability are embedded throughout the platform.
- Collaborating with model developers to productionise analytical solutions.
- Providing hands-on technical leadership and mentoring across the team.
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications in Python.
- Experience designing and building APIs and service-oriented architectures.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and containerised deployments.
- Knowledge of job orchestration, workflow engines and message queues.
- Strong SQL and data integration experience.
- Experience building highly available, production-grade systems.
- Understanding of monitoring, observability and operational support.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

- Risk systems, portfolio analytics or financial services platforms.
- Large-scale batch processing or calculation-heavy environments.
- Model governance, version control and auditable execution frameworks.
- Leading engineering teams or mentoring technical colleagues.
