Platform Engineer – Global AI & Data Platform
Loc: Global Platform Team, HeadFirst x Impellam Group
Enable scalable engineering workflows across our global AI and data platform.
About the Role
Are you a Platform Engineer passionate about building scalable internal platforms, improving developer experience (DX), and driving automation and standardisation? Do you thrive in modern cloud-native environments where CI/CD, observability, and self-service engineering are central to platform strategy?
We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to join the Global Platform Team at HeadFirst x Impellam Group. In this role, you’ll design, build, and evolve the platform capabilities that enable teams to efficiently develop, deploy, and operate workloads across our Headless Data Architecture (HDA) and Custom Apps Infrastructure (CA).
Your Impact
As a Platform Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the engineering foundations behind our global Workforce-as-a-Service (WaaS) platform. You’ll operate at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and developer enablement, ensuring teams can scale workloads without deep infrastructure expertise.
Your contributions will directly support:
- Headless Data Architecture (HDA) – A modular, API-first platform built on Azure and Databricks, enabling data-driven applications.
- Custom Apps Infrastructure (CA) – Powering integrations, applications, and operational workflows across the organisation.
- Reusable engineering standards – Designing golden paths for:
- CI/CD, deployment workflows
- Observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
- Infrastructure provisioning
- Developer self-service – Reducing friction in build, test, and deployment while maintaining consistency and scalability.
- Cross-functional collaboration – Working closely with Cloud Engineers, Data Engineers, AIOps Engineers, and development teams to simplify operations and enhance DX.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Platform Design & Delivery
- Define and implement golden paths for workflows, including:
- Data pipelines
- APIs
- AI workloads
- Build and maintain self-service platform capabilities, including:
- Reusable templates
- Automation workflows
- Onboarding flows
- Standardise CI/CD pipelines and engineering tooling across teams.
Cloud & Infrastructure Abstraction
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineers to abstract infrastructure complexity into reusable patterns.
- Design and deploy secure, scalable, and efficient Azure-based solutions, such as:
- App Services
- Container Apps
- Serverless Functions
- API Management
Observability & Reliability

Integrate Grafana and OpenTelemetry for:
- Logging
- Metrics
- Distributed tracing

Implement alerting systems and operational feedback loops to improve platform reliability.
Developer Enablement & Tooling
- Ensure engineering teams adopt platform standards through:
- Training and documentation
- Clear best practices
- Friction reduction in workflows
- Maintain and evolve:
- Platform tooling
- Deployment strategies
- Automation scripts
Cross-Team Collaboration & Problem-Solving
- Work with AIOps Engineers to improve:
- AI evaluation workflows on Databricks
- Operational efficiency
- Contribute to incident resolution and continuous reliability improvements.
Your Qualifications
Technical Expertise
We’re seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer with:
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud engineering.
- Strong familiarity with CI/CD tooling, including:
- GitHub Actions
- Azure DevOps
- Azure platform services expertise, such as:
- App Services
- Azure Container Apps
- Azure Functions
- API Management
- Hands-on experience with:
- Reusable deployment pipelines
- Engineering templates
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform or AWS CDK)
- GitOps workflows
- Knowledge of observability tooling:
- Grafana
- OpenTelemetry
- Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or similar.
- Familiarity with Databricks deployment workflows.
- Understanding of event-driven and API-first architectures.
- Experience with secure software supply chain practices.
- A plus for familiarity with SnapLogic or similar integration platforms.
