Work on Technology That Protects What Matters

At SiXworks, we build secure digital solutions that support Defence and National Security missions. Our teams work on complex problems where reliability, security, and speed of innovation matter.

We’re looking for a Platform Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.

What You’ll Do

As a Platform Engineer, you'll showcase your expertise by deploying new solutions in challenging environments and enhancing existing platforms. You embrace the "MVP" approach, building incrementally and learning quickly from failures. You love tinkering and discovering innovative solutions. You're comfortable sharing ideas with both your team and our customers, and confident managing and supporting production systems, balancing reliability, performance, and operational excellence in live environments.

We believe in using the right tools and technologies to deliver the best outcomes for our customers. While expertise in every tool isn't required, we value experience with similar technologies and an understanding of the problems they solve. Our current stack includes GitHub and GitHub Actions, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Zarf, and UDS (Unicorn Delivery Service), along with languages such as Go, Rust, and, of course, Bash. These tools enable us to build, manage, and deploy solutions across both cloud environments (AWS) and on-premises platforms (VMware).

You'll join a small, high-performing team that supports you from day one and throughout your journey with us. The challenges you'll tackle are unique, whether due to security needs or location constraints, offering you a chance to make a significant impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
