Platform Engineer (Secure Defence Technology) | Hybrid | Contract | Edinburgh
I'm currently supporting a leading defence technology organisation on the search for an experienced Platform Engineer to join a highly technical engineering team developing and operating secure technology platforms for complex defence programmes.
This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of secure platform engineering and defence technology, building reliable infrastructure that supports critical systems within demanding and highly controlled environments.
This is not a traditional DevOps support role. You will be hands-on, building and improving platform capabilities across Kubernetes, Linux, Terraform, Docker and CI/CD, with a strong focus on automation, infrastructure and scalable platform engineering.
You'll work alongside experienced software engineers, infrastructure specialists and wider engineering teams, helping build secure, resilient and repeatable platforms that enable development teams to deliver effectively.

The Role

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain Kubernetes-based platform infrastructure within secure environments.
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Work extensively across Linux infrastructure, troubleshooting and optimising platform environments.
- Build and support containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Collaborate closely with software, infrastructure and engineering teams to develop reliable and scalable platform capabilities.
- Automate infrastructure and operational processes to improve reliability, security and developer experience.
- Support the integration and operation of secure technology platforms within complex defence environments.

Experience within Defence, National Security, Aerospace or another highly regulated environment would be highly advantageous.
Active UK SC clearance is required.
