Contract Infrastructure/Platform Engineer – (Windows/Linux)
Dorset HQ - Hybrid remote working
Long term contract (March 2027 expiry)

A leading Defence prime based in the Dorset area are looking to onboard a security cleared Infrastructure/Platform Engineer on a long term contract to support an ongoing programme.
The role will take responsibility for applying changes, configuration and maintenance to hardware within a secure, offline environment. Once a stable golden image has been established, you will also design and implement a new Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach to automate the build and deployment of future management laptops.
This is a highly hands-on role requiring strong experience across Windows and Linux infrastructure, Docker, scripting, networking and Infrastructure as Code.

- Windows and Linux infrastructure experience.
- PowerShell and Bash scripting.
- Docker – image builds, container deployment and networking.
- Infrastructure as Code – Ansible, PowerShell DSC or equivalent.
- Networking – TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and firewalls.
- Understanding of cyber security principles.
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
- Scrum Foundation/Professional certification required.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, configure and maintain offline Windows and Linux platforms.
- Import and install software within secure, offline environments.
- Apply, manage and maintain changes across the subsystem including Security patching, Group Policy configuration, Windows Registry modifications and System configuration and hardening.
- Research and apply industry best practice to ensure secure, efficient and reliable infrastructure.
- Build, manage and maintain offline Docker environments.
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions for offline Windows and Linux environments.
- Develop and maintain automation using technologies such as Ansible and PowerShell DSC.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, including analysis of system and application logs.
- Produce clear and comprehensive technical and user-facing documentation.
