Senior Platform Engineer - London
We are working in collaboration to source a Senior Platform Engineer. This role is working mostly remote, with the requirement to work in the London office only 1 day per week.
You will take on a high-profile role, which will see you design, build and improve platforms. You’ll be making sure that they are secure, scalable and available, collaborating across teams to share and re-utilise good practice and technology stack. If you’re passionate about cloud engineering, automation and enabling teams to move faster and safer, in this role hone your existing skills and advance your career.
What you'll do
- Ensure that our platforms are robust, value for money and continuously optimised.
- Ensure the technology stack is constantly enhanced by adding new features and ensuring defects are resolved in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the code base and make sure that it is clean, elegant, reusable, and easy to maintain and extend.
- Proactively perform code and design peer reviews
- Ensure platforms and operational issues, defects, and maintenance activities are prioritised appropriately and provide highly available and performing solutions
- Own, develop and improve platform engineering tools, processes and ways of working
- Pioneer new ideas to improve platform delivery lifecycles from design, code, automation to effective operational support

The skills you'll need
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in cloud platform engineering, designing and operating secure, scalable and high‑performing Azure platforms.
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment and contributing to improving overall engineering maturity.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Azure design, build and deployment using CI or CD.
- Good collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Experience of real-time logging and monitoring
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, building and deploying Microsoft Azure services, including PaaS and AKS, using CI/CD
- Strong Azure administration expertise, including Landing Zones, CAF principles, Hub & Spoke networking and cloud security best practice
- Proficiency with IaC and automation tools such as Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell, JSON, Azure DevOps or Jenkins
- Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerisation and API Management
- Experience with real-time monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, AppInsights and Grafana
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies including Azure Entra, Microsoft 365 and Endpoint Manager
- Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible, along with strong communication and stakeholder skills
- Experience with cloud database technologies such as MongoDB, Cosmos DB, SQL PaaS services including optimisation, performance tuning and high availability
- Strong networking knowledge across VNet design, firewalls, routing, private endpoints, WAFs and network security groups
- Understanding of compliance and regulatory standards including PCI DSS, financial‑services governance, secure-by-design principles, data protection and change control rigor
