Platform Engineer – Identity & Access Management (IAM) | GCP | Kubernetes
6 Month Contract
£400 per day (Inside IR35)
Hybrid (2 Days per week in Sheffield)
We're hiring on behalf of a major organisation currently transforming its Identity & Access Management capability through a large-scale IDAM Next Generation programme — delivering a suite of net-new tools that will overhaul how IAM operates at enterprise scale.
We're looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to design, build, automate and operate the cloud platform underpinning this transformation, working closely with IAM architects, engineering teams and business stakeholders to deliver secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and maintaining cloud-native platform services supporting IDAM 2.0
- Designing, deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters and supporting components
- Developing Infrastructure as Code for repeatable, automated deployments
- Owning CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployment workflows
- Managing cloud networking, connectivity and platform security
- Implementing observability — logging, monitoring, metrics, distributed tracing
- Automating provisioning, configuration management and operational tasks
- Supporting deployment of identity platform components and services
- Implementing secrets management and certificate lifecycle automation
- Configuring service mesh and secure service-to-service communication
- Managing ingress, API gateways and routing
- Building resilience, backup, DR and HA capabilities
- Supporting workload identity and platform authentication
- Ensuring compliance with enterprise security and regulatory standards
- Optimising performance, scalability and cost efficiency
- Developing operational tooling and self-service capabilities
- Supporting incident management, troubleshooting and RCA
- Collaborating across Security, Architecture and Engineering
- Contributing to platform standards, documentation and runbooks
- Supporting dev, test, pilot and production environments

- Strong Cloud Platform Engineering experience (GCP)
- Kubernetes administration at scale
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent)
- CI/CD and GitOps expertise
- Solid Linux administration
- Networking and load balancing
- Service mesh technologies (Istio/Envoy)
- Container platform experience
- Secrets management, PKI and certificate lifecycle management
- Workload identity implementation
- Observability tooling (logging, monitoring, tracing)
- Strong scripting and automation skills
- DevSecOps mindset
- SRE experience
- Performance and capacity management know-how
- Experience operating in large, complex, global organisations
- A positive, can-do attitude with a knack for solutioning under pressure
