West Midlands: Hybrid: twice per week in the office

Benefits

  • Bonus Scheme
  • Hybrid Working

I am working with a client in the West Midlands who are looking for a Platform Engineering Manager with a Platform First mindset that can provide strategic leadership to the existing team.

You will be coming into a mature team environment, where there is technical capability and proven delivery. What is lacking at the moment is leadership.

You won't be coming in to turn things around, as they are already on track. This is about bringing inspiration and motivation to an already performing team.

The right person will recognise what is working and encourage continuity, whilst taking the senior responsibilities over and managing efficiently.

Technical capability is important, and in an ideal world you will have recent or current hands on experience with:

  • Running platforms in public cloud
  • Working in close proximity to Engineering teams in an environment that encourages transparency.
  • Experience building modern SaaS platforms
  • Strategic oversight, Roadmap delivery
  • Investigating Platform health and pushing boundaries

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
