Summary
The Platform & Engineering Manager for Productivity Engineering is accountable for executing the strategy aligned to business priorities and target architecture, platform engineering, operations, security, adoption, and continuous improvement of M&S's enterprise productivity and collaboration platforms, including: Microsoft 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform / UiPath, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Viva Services, Copilot Studio, Enterprise Messaging & Collaboration Services.
The role owns the platform engineering roadmap, security, operational health, and long-term evolution of these services, ensuring they deliver secure, resilient, and high-value colleague experiences.
This leader drives engineering excellence across internal and partner engineering teams while enabling adoption of secure AI, automation, and collaboration capabilities that improve colleague productivity and business outcomes.
The role combines platform ownership, engineering leadership, operational accountability, and people leadership to ensure productivity platforms remain secure, cost-effective, innovative, and aligned to organizational strategy.
You will be the platform owner, not just a platform admin. A people leader, not just a technical specialist. A retail business productivity service designer, not just an information worker tooling manager.
What you'll do
- Own and deliver the enterprise productivity platform strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business priorities, architecture, security, and governance standards.
- Lead engineering teams across Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Power Platform, Copilot, and related services, driving automation, resilience, and operational excellence.
- Enable secure adoption of collaboration, automation, and AI capabilities, including governance for M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Agents, and Power Platform integrations.
- Maintain service reliability, platform security, compliance, operational health, incident management, continuous improvement, and cost optimization across productivity services.
- Build and coach high-performing engineering teams while managing stakeholders, vendors, partners, and budgets to deliver measurable colleague and business value.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
