Map Room is assisting a valued customer to identify a Platform Manager for a full-time, permanent position.
The Role
The Platform Manager will oversee the day-to-day delivery, control, and continuous improvement of the company’s operational platforms. You will transform priorities from the Operations and Platform roadmap into achievable delivery plans, coordinating platform specialists, developers, suppliers, and business owners to ensure requirements, defects, and enhancements are assessed, planned, tested, and released.
You will manage the platform backlog, delivery schedule, environments, releases, documentation, and operational issues, providing the Head of Operations & Platform with updates on progress, capacity, dependencies, and risks. This hands-on role involves delivering agreed platform priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Delivery
- Coordinate delivery across Salesforce, Instanda, SchemeServe, Acturis, and legacy platforms.
- Maintain visibility of work in development, testing, and release.
- Identify and address delivery issues early, escalating significant problems as necessary.

Backlog Management
- Maintain an accurate backlog of defects, enhancements, and regulatory requirements.
- Arrange for estimations and prioritisation with technical specialists and business owners.
Team Coordination
- Manage the Platform and Development team, allocating work based on priority and capacity.
- Ensure technical specialists provide accurate solutions and adhere to standards.
- Support team development and escalate performance issues when necessary.
Testing and Release
- Oversee configuration, testing, and release processes.
- Ensure prompt action of defects post-release and maintain relevant documentation.
Platform Stability
- Manage responses to platform incidents and service degradation.
- Ensure issues are prioritised based on impact and monitor for recurring problems.
Suppliers and Group IT
- Track supplier actions and service issues, escalating significant performance or commercial matters to the Head of Operations & Platform.
- Collaborate with Group IT on infrastructure, information security, and compliance with governance and security requirements.

Reporting and Control
- Provide accurate reports on delivery, capacity, backlog, releases, incidents, and risks.
- Maintain delivery plans and logs, offering the Head of Operations & Platform a clear overview of delivery confidence and necessary decisions.
Responsibilities: Leadership and Management
- Lead the Platform and Development team by setting clear priorities and maintaining regular communication.
- Conduct performance discussions and foster collaboration between technical and non-technical teams.
- Ensure team members complete mandatory training and support knowledge sharing.
- Manage performance fairly and create an environment where risks and concerns can be raised early.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in platform management, project management, Agile, or business analysis are desirable.
- An insurance qualification is a plus but not essential.
Required Skills
- Strong planning, organisation, and delivery management skills with high attention to detail.
