I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You will be accountable for the technology platforms behind our products and services such as Briink, our future flagship product platform, and our web-based platforms built on Salesforce and Drupal. Most of the build sits with SaaS vendors and delivery partners, so the job is less about writing code and more about holding the end end platform ecosystem and data together, supporting our business and being the bridge between technology, the vendors and our business. Platforms that stay reliable while we keep maturing and adapting as our needs change but can see the bigger picture, understand business needs and who gets satisfaction from making a complex set technologies working together.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the platform picture across Briink, our data platform, Salesforce and Drupal (not exhaustive)– how it fits together now, and where it needs to go with clear roadmaps.
- Manage our SaaS vendors and delivery partners: set expectations, hold them to roadmaps and service commitments, and challenge when something isn’t good enough.
- Make integrations work. Data moves between our platforms, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Azure services, Databricks and our identity tooling, and it needs to move cleanly and securely.
- Provide assurance over changes and releases, so what goes live is safe, supportable and does what the product teams expected.
- Keep the platforms reliable – performance, availability, resilience, recovery and monitoring – and act on what the data tells you.
- Manage the platform roadmap alongside product colleagues, balancing priorities, risks, dependencies and cost.
- Explain the technology to people who don’t work in it, and help them make good decisions.
