About The Role
Payments are at the heart of BT’s customer experience, supporting millions of transactions each year across BT, EE, Plusnet and Openreach. BT Pay is our strategic payments platform, providing the shared capabilities that enable our brands and services to take payments securely and reliably at scale. We’re looking for a Platform Product Manager to help develop those capabilities. You’ll work closely with engineering teams and the products that depend on BT Pay to understand their needs, shape platform priorities and make it easier for teams to integrate with and use the platform.
This role offers the chance to work on a platform with significant reach and technical complexity. You’ll contribute to decisions about its APIs, payment services and operational performance, balancing new capabilities with security, resilience and the needs of existing users. What You’ll Be Doing
- Owning and evolving the roadmap for BT Pay capabilities, informed by the needs of teams using the platform, technical priorities and the wider payments strategy.
- Working with engineering and architecture to define requirements for APIs, integrations, payment services and supporting tools.
- Understanding how teams use the platform, identifying friction in integration, onboarding and day-to-day operation, and prioritising improvements.
- Managing and prioritising the product backlog, making clear trade-offs between new capabilities, technical health, security, resilience and regulatory needs.
- Defining what success looks like for platform changes and using data such as adoption, reliability, transaction performance and support demand to guide decisions.
- Working with engineering, operations, security, risk and delivery teams to take capabilities from discovery through launch and continuous improvement.
- Maintaining clear documentation and communicating platform changes so teams can adopt new capabilities with confidence.
- Supporting the migration of payment services onto BT Pay and the retirement of legacy capabilities.

Essential Skills / Experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Product management experience taking digital or technical products from discovery and prioritisation through delivery and ongoing improvement.
- The ability to work closely with engineers and architects, understand technical constraints and turn complex needs into clear product priorities and requirements.
- Experience managing a roadmap and backlog in an Agile environment, making practical trade-offs and explaining decisions to stakeholders.
- A data-led approach to understanding product performance, identifying problems and measuring the impact of improvements.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- API products, developer platforms or shared services used by multiple teams.
- Payments, fintech, financial services or transaction processing.
- Platform integration, onboarding and adoption.
- Security, resilience, observability or operational performance in a regulated environment.
- Modernising legacy systems or migrating services to a new platform.
- Discovery, workshop facilitation and translating technical or user needs into product requirements.
