Platform Specialist - Observability
Role Overview
As a Platform Specialist on the Observability team, you will play a crucial technical role in delivering and evolving the monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting platforms that engineers across the firm rely on to understand and run their systems, using the DevOps methodology. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain automated, self-service observability services that are reliable, secure and scalable across multiple regions.
You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality of telemetry the firm depends on, owning the platform end to end, from data collection and ingestion through storage, querying, dashboards and alerting. You will shape both the architecture and the user experience of the platform, and look for ways to reduce operational noise and make it easy for teams to get value from their data. This is a hands-on engineering role, with a strong emphasis on automation, software development and operating distributed systems at scale.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
