Job Title: Plating Operative
Shift: Lates
Shift Schedule:
- Monday thru Thursday 1330-2130
- Friday 1300-2000
Please note, the training plan for this position would require the successful candidate to work on our standard day shift for up to 6 months. Standard day shift is Monday thru Thursday 0800-1630 and Friday 0800-1530.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a Level 1 or Level 2 Engineering qualification who is looking to develop their career within a specialist manufacturing environment. We also welcome applications from experienced manufacturing and engineering operatives seeking a new challenge.

The Role
Reporting to the Plating Shop Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our barrel plating operations. You'll be responsible for plating precision micro-components to exacting standards while ensuring quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

This is a fast-paced and varied role that would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, has strong attention to detail, and is keen to learn and develop within a specialist manufacturing environment. There will also be opportunities to gain experience across other plating methods within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Plate precision micro-components to various finishes, including gold and tin, following strict process procedures.
- Operate and monitor barrel plating equipment.
- Use plating measurement equipment, including XRF Fischer Scope machines, to maintain required plating thicknesses.
- Handle and use plating and pre-cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Work to production schedules and priorities to support on-time customer delivery.
- Carry out routine maintenance and housekeeping activities within the plating shop.
- Develop an understanding of plating chemistry and its impact on product quality and manufacturing performance.
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance at all times.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, production, or chemical processing environment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities in a busy environment.
- Team player with a positive and flexible approach.

Desirable
- Experience working with chemicals in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling practices.
- A qualification in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Foundation or Technician qualification from the Institute of Materials Finishing (IMF) or similar.
