At Dilkes Academy, we are seeking a dynamic, creative, and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) leader to work with pupils aged 5–11 who face complex learning difficulties. Our school is committed to fostering an environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive. We are focused on providing a broad, ambitious curriculum tailored to each pupil's individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). These plans are developed collaboratively with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure that every learner's needs are met.
We are looking for a lead who is:
- A confident and inspiring practitioner: Someone who can lead successful learning experiences that engage and motivate pupils. An effective line manager of support staff, ensuring that all pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) receive tailored, comprehensive support within the classroom, fostering an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
- Creative and practical: Capable of bringing learning to life through a hands-on, engaging curriculum that connects with pupils' needs and interests.
- An excellent communicator: Someone who is committed to working collaboratively with children, staff, parents, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- Dedicated to professional growth: Eager to continually develop their own skills and expertise, striving for excellence in everything they do.
- A team player: Willing to contribute to the wider school community and actively participate in extracurricular activities.
- Committed to high expectations: Setting ambitious goals for all pupils and holding them to the highest standards of learning and behaviour.

Information about the School
Our pupils are aged 3 – 11, ranging from Nursery to Year 6, and mainly live in the area surrounding the school.
At Dilkes we want our children to be happy, confident and to share a passion for learning. We help them to achieve highly and make outstanding progress.
We value every child and ensure that we foster the individuality of their interests and experiences. Our bespoke curriculum is carefully planned to enable us to teach all the National Curriculum subjects in a creative and inspiring way. We engage children in a range of activities that enable them to develop their knowledge and skills, and equip them for life beyond school.
