The Role

Due to continued successful growth, we have a new permanent opportunity to join our Fortem Repairs and Maintenance team at Cambridge Housing Society as a Plumber Multi Skilled Trade which uses core Plumbing skills, basic Carpentry and a range of other Multi trade skills which can include, Tiling, Flooring, Windows.

The Plumber Multi Trade will be responsible for most aspects of property maintenance and repairs to Social Housing Properties covering a patch across South Cambridgeshire which include Cambridge Central, Royston, Duxford and Haverhill and surrounding areas so travel is essential.

Core Hours are Monday-Friday 8.00am-4.30pm - Work Van, Fuel card, Tools provided! + Generous ON CALL rota.

The Customer

Cambridge Housing Society is one of our long term partnerships. We are responsible for all repairs and maintenance of their social housing properties which cover the Cambridgeshire region. Head office is based in Central Cambridge and the patch includes surrounding areas from Wisbech, Royston and Haverhill. There are nearly 3,000 properties, mostly houses and flats, and we look after a range of work including Repairs, Voids, Cyclical Works and Planned workstreams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completing Full Plumbing and basic Carpentry repairs work for all social housing properties as per the specification, working in a timely and productive manner with specific turnaround deadlines.
  • Advising Supervisor in a timely manner when other trades are required.
  • Working in partnership with other operatives to complete projects.
  • Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems electronic devices.
  • Affording excellent customer service to client representatives and tenants.
  • Arranging purchase of materials required to deliver the works in a planned and efficient manner.
  • Comply with safeguarding policy and H&S standards at all times.
  • Operating within the company's occupational road risk policies and procedures.
  • Using a PDA smart phone to correspond daily with colleagues to update progress and completion information for your allocated work.

What you will need

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in Plumbing/ OR Qualified by experience will be considered.
  • Able to change Cylinders, carry out bath and WC installations.
  • Full UK driving license (Max 5 points) and no recent driving bans.
  • Must be able to pass basic DBS check.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Social Housing experience.
