The role

TaskEnergy is looking for an experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join our field-based engineering team.

You'll carry out service, repair, maintenance and installation across plumbing and heating assets including working towards renewable technologies in occupied and empty properties, working safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

This is a customer-facing role, so alongside strong technical capability, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, takes ownership of each job and communicates clearly with residents, colleagues and clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out plumbing and heating servicing, repairs and installations
  • Complete planned service and maintenance works in line with client requirements
  • Diagnose faults and identify practical, cost-effective solutions
  • Work safely and complete appropriate risk assessments before starting work
  • Complete allocated jobs within agreed timescales and communicate any delays promptly
  • Keep residents and customers informed throughout the work
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
  • Manage van stock and ensure materials and waste are handled appropriately
  • Maintain a professional standard on site, including leaving properties safe, clean and tidy
  • Identify and report resident vulnerabilities, concerns or wider issues where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and share knowledge across the engineering team

What we're looking for

You'll need:

  • Relevant experience in plumbing and heating service, repair and maintenance
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
  • A professional and customer-focused approach
  • Good communication skills and the ability to manage customer expectations
  • The ability to work independently and take responsibility for your workload
  • Accurate record-keeping and good organisation
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours where required by the business
  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating, CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, HTR1 & G3, Water regulations desirable
  • A keen interest in upskilling to working with renewable assets IE solar thermal / Air & Ground source heat pumps
