About The Role
This full-time, permanent role suits an experienced maintenance Plumbing & Heating Engineer seeking stable work in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Working Monday to Friday on eight-hour shifts, with occasional overtime, the engineer will service, maintain and repair plumbing and heating systems across varied client sites, including hospices, hospitals, schools and builders. The position is on-site and calls for solid fault-finding ability, a strong grasp of gas and heating systems, and confident, professional customer contact. Salary is £38,000 to £42,000 per year, depending on experience. The successful candidate joins a small, established team based in St Albans and must be comfortable working independently while managing a diverse maintenance workload.

This is a full-time on-site role for an experienced maintenance plumbing and heating engineer. The engineer will be required to service, maintain and repair plumbing and heating systems in residential and commercial properties. Day to day responsibilities include diagnosing faults, general plumbing heating and hot water system faults. Carrying out maintenance and repair work along with completing necessary documentation / job reports / certificates.
The engineer’s responsibility will involve planned schedules, liaising with the customer to book in jobs and to also be able explain the work undertaken or if further works will be required. The engineer is to ensure all tasks comply with all relevant health & safety regulations and industry standards. The engineer will work with office staff and other engineers to plan and undertake jobs along with managing van and stores stock.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong plumbing and heating skills, including maintenance and service of equipment and associated systems
- Minimum Level 2 NVQ 6089/6129 certificate/qualification in plumbing & heating
- Minimum 5 years plumbing and heating experience
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working procedures
- Ability to work independently or with others, along with managing time efficiently and accurately recording jobs and documentation
- Clean, valid UK driving license required
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
- Enhanced DBS check will be required
- Applicant to have CSCS card & good understanding of up-to-date health and safety regulations
- Ability to work as a team member or on own initiative on commercial, service and installation works with a can-do attitude
- Reliable, hardworking & good presentation individual to join a local and friendly family run business
- Candidate to be able to attend jobs, identify problem, organize materials if required and solve on own initiative
