About the Role

We're looking for a skilled plumber to join our busy maintenance team at the Port of Tyne. You'll look after the plumbing and water hygiene systems across our estate and help keep our facilities and equipment safe and running smoothly. It's a varied role, split between planned and reactive work, with plenty of chances to turn your hand to other estates maintenance tasks.

What you will be doing

  • Maintaining, inspecting and monitoring plumbing and water hygiene systems
  • Keeping us compliant with water safety and Legionella control requirements, including routine monitoring, testing and remedial work
  • Servicing and maintaining Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs)
  • Dosing, cleaning and maintaining break tanks
  • Cleaning and inspecting strainers, outlets and associated plumbing components
  • Diagnosing and fixing faults using your practical plumbing knowledge
  • Maintaining and repairing vented and unvented hot water systems
  • Inspecting and maintaining underground valves and hydrants
  • Supporting domestic plumbing systems and carrying out water jetting as required
  • Helping to operate and maintain our wood pellet boilers
  • Supporting fire and sprinkler system inspections and maintenance
  • Taking utility meter readings and carrying out small installations and project works
  • Recording all work, defects and inspections accurately in our CMMS
  • Mentoring and supporting apprentices with on-the-job guidance and training
  • Pitching in on general estates maintenance outside your core plumbing duties

Health, Safety and Compliance

Safety is central to this role. You'll make sure all work meets HSE legislation and company procedures, carry out risk assessments and toolbox talks, work under permit-to-work, and keep maintenance records and statutory inspections accurate. You'll also help promote a strong safety culture across the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
