About Us

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

About the Role

Wellington Management manages approximately $33 billion in hedge fund assets on behalf of more than 1,000 clients worldwide. Our multi-strategy Global Macro business manages over $10 billion in assets and continues to grow. To support that growth and continue meeting our clients' investment expectations, we are seeking an experienced Emerging Markets Fixed Income Portfolio Manager to join the team. The position will be based in either New York, London or Boston.

This individual will be responsible for managing a dedicated alpha sleeve consistent with their stated philosophy and process, and within their area of specialization across Emerging Markets fixed income. The alpha sleeve will be available across the platform for incorporation into appropriate client mandates, ranging from hedge funds to constrained portfolios.

Our team and broader investment platform are built on the philosophy that each investor is independently responsible for meeting their individual alpha targets, while also contributing to the broader investment dialogue and the success of others. Actively sharing timely, differentiated insights and participating in deep investment discussions and respectful debate is not only encouraged but expected. It is important that all Portfolio Managers contribute to a positive, rigorous, best-in-class investment culture that develops talent across the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a meaningful discretionary Emerging Markets fixed income alpha sleeve as a member of the Global Macro team;
  • Generate differentiated investment ideas across Emerging Markets fixed income, consistent with the individual's area of expertise;
  • Contribute to the Global Macro and broader firm investment dialogue;
  • Partner with sales and client functions to help grow assets and build client relationships;
  • Mentor high-potential and developing investment talent within the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
