Band 8A | 36 Hours per Week | 12-Month Secondment / Fixed Term Post

Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated midwife to join the maternity leadership team as Midwifery Manager at Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin on a 12-month secondment basis.

Situated at the heart of maternity services in Moray, Dr Gray’s Hospital provides a unique opportunity to lead and shape care for women, babies and families within a close-knit community while working as part of the wider NHS Grampian maternity system. This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic and operational leadership at a time of ongoing service development and transformation. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting local service delivery, driving quality improvement, fostering strong multidisciplinary relationships and influencing the future development of safe, sustainable and person-centred maternity care across Moray and the North East of Scotland. Working closely with clinical and managerial colleagues across NHS Grampian, you will have the opportunity to lead innovation, support workforce development and ensure women and families receive high-quality care as close to home as possible.

The Post Holder Will

  • Provide visible and supportive clinical leadership to midwifery teams.
  • Lead on service quality, patient safety and clinical governance.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, staff wellbeing and professional development.
  • Contribute to strategic service development and quality improvement programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues to deliver high-quality maternity care.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, compassion and professional excellence.

We Are Seeking an Enthusiastic and Credible Senior Midwife Who:

  • Is a registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Has significant experience in maternity care, including leadership and management responsibilities.
  • Possesses excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and compassionate leadership.
  • Can inspire and support teams through change and service development.

Post Details

  • Location: Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin, with some requirement to be present in Aberdeen Maternity Hospital
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Duration: 12-month secondment
  • Salary: Band 8A
