PMO Consultant – Secure Government
Overview
Bring your PMO experience. Strengthen delivery. Make an impact.
At AtkinsRéalis, our PMO teams help bring structure, control and confidence to complex programmes. As a PMO Consultant within our Secure Government practice, you’ll support delivery across important projects that contribute to national security and resilience, applying your existing PMO expertise in a challenging and rewarding client environment.
You’ll join a collaborative PMO community and work alongside delivery, technical, commercial and transformation specialists who value strong controls, continuous improvement and shared learning. It’s a chance to develop your experience in a supportive environment while contributing to high-profile client outcomes.
We are recruiting for multiple PMO Consultant roles across a range of consultant levels and welcome candidates with:
- Transferable skills from project-based environments
- Established PMO generalists
- PMO specialists in areas such as planning, reporting, governance, controls, finance, risk, benefits, change and assurance
Some roles may include emerging workstream, people or technical leadership, but these are not senior PMO leadership roles.
Your Role
As a PMO Consultant within our Delivery Optimisation sub-practice, you’ll work in client-facing delivery environments where structure, insight and reliable controls matter. The scope of each role will reflect your experience, from supporting PMO activities to leading defined workstreams or small teams where appropriate. You may:
- Support reporting cycles
- Coordinate governance forums
- Manage risks and issues
- Support planning and scheduling
- Contribute to financial tracking
- Improve delivery controls and assurance
You’ll be expected to operate professionally with clients and contribute to high-quality, consistent delivery.
*Note: All roles require a minimum of 3 days in the office, either onsite with clients or at one of our AtkinsRéalis offices (pro-rata for part-time).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
