Our client is a fast-growing developer, owner, and operator of battery energy storage and flexible generation assets, with a diverse and expanding pipeline of utility-scale projects across the UK and Europe. Backed by significant investment and with big ambitions for growth, they've built a lean, entrepreneurial team that moves with genuine start-up energy while delivering grid-scale infrastructure at serious scale. This is a rare chance to shape a PMO function from the ground up.
The role
The PMO Manager will build and lead the project management office across a varied portfolio of utility-scale battery storage and flexible generation projects spanning the UK and Europe, bringing structure, governance, and delivery discipline to a business scaling quickly and ambitiously.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of planners, document controllers, and cost engineers.
- Build and embed standardised PMO processes, governance structures, and KPI reporting across a growing, multi-country project portfolio.
- Manage interfaces between project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders including grid operators and regulators.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to protect critical path and grid connection milestones.
- Support procurement, contract management, and supplier performance across the portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with CDM, Grid Code, and H&S requirements throughout project lifecycles.
Essential skills and experience
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience establishing and running a PMO function across multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience leading and managing teams, including planners, document controllers, and cost engineers.
- Strong grounding in renewable energy, battery storage, or flexible generation project delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging contractors, consultants, grid operators, and senior leadership.
- Proficiency with PM/scheduling tools and data platforms (MS Office, Power BI, Primavera or equivalent).

Desirable
- APM, PRINCE2, or PMP qualification.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
- Experience with Grid Code compliance and DNO/grid operator submissions.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and QA frameworks in energy infrastructure.
