Job Description
The Role
We are seeking an experienced PMO Team Lead to lead a team of Project and Programme Managers while driving the successful delivery of strategic initiatives across our On Premise business.
This role combines people leadership, portfolio management, and hands-on programme delivery. As PMO Team Lead, you will oversee a portfolio of projects and programmes, manage demand and resource allocation, ensure governance standards are met, and drive successful execution across multiple stakeholders, functions, technologies, and geographies.
You will play a key role in the organisation's transformation agenda, partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact outcomes while developing and mentoring a high-performing PMO team.
Salary - £45,500 - £50,125 GBP gross per year. Placement within the range will depend on objective criteria including experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. We are committed to equal pay and pay transparency. Remuneration decisions are made using gender-neutral and objective criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5-6 Project and Programme Managers
- Manage project demand, prioritisation, and resource allocation in line with business strategy and organizational objectives and oversee project portfolio performance, ensuring effective governance, reporting, and stakeholder communication
- Support career development, performance management, and capability building across the PMO team and develop and maintain onboarding and training programmes for Project and Programme Managers
- Drive proactive identification, escalation, and resolution of project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests and facilitate cross-functional planning and stakeholder discussions to ensure key dependencies are identified and effectively managed
- Lead 1-2 strategic projects or programmes alongside people management responsibilities
- Ensure production readiness activities, sign-offs, governance requirements, and project documentation standards are completed
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and drive alignment across teams and functions and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on delivery excellence and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Programme Management, Project Management, PMO leadership, or a related discipline
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale business, technology, operations, or transformation programmes
- Experience leading and developing project and programme management teams and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with senior executives, including C-suite stakeholders and strong background in leading cross-functional, geographically dispersed, and virtual teams
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Proven ability to gain buy-in and drive alignment across multiple functions, levels, and cultures
- Strong portfolio, programme, and project governance expertise and excellent risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
- Experience with project and portfolio management tools such as Smartsheet, Monday.com, Jira, or similar platforms
- Highly organised, adaptable, proactive, and results-oriented
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, or equivalent Project Management certification is preferred
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
Working Pattern
- Flexible working hours may be required to support collaboration across multiple regions and time zones
