About the Role

Sitrep is a leading defence and security podcast with a rich history in explaining defence news and a rare opportunity has opened for the right person to be our Podcast Editor and develop Sitrep in truly interesting times in world security.

Sitrep is part of BFBS, the broadcasting service for the British military. The news output is independent and trusted by the serving and civilian audience alike.

In depth military knowledge isn’t essential – the team are experts and you can tap into the collective wisdom of the Forces News newsroom. You just need enthusiasm for uncovering the detail that our highly engaged audience loves, and excellent editorial judgement.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Produce and edit a weekly in-vision podcast for multiple platforms.
  • Lead a small team of staff and freelancers to create content which surprises the regular audience and attracts new listeners.
  • Build up a bank of engaging and authoritative guests - you will identify stories or themes which make for a detailed in-depth discussion the audience cannot find anywhere else.
  • Be adept at identifying the best moments to promote each episode on social media and understand the importance of engaging with the audience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
