Position Purpose

Under supervision of the Police Command staff, performs a wide variety of responsible secretarial, office management, and administrative duties requiring a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential matters. Processes routine matters independently to relieve management of administrative detail, maintains department personnel and payroll records, answers inquiries with regard to well-defined department policies and procedures. Assists with FOIA administration and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent, supplemented with coursework in administrative and/or office procedures. A minimum of 6 months to 1 year of post-secondary education coursework.
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of clerical experience involving substantial public contact and/or customer service.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Windows-based applications, and BS&A.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, deal tactfully with the public, communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing, learn and apply specialized knowledge of department operations, and work independently when necessary.
