About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CT Case Officer (CTCO) to work within the Counter Terrorism Unit in the South East (CTPSE) under the Prevent Strand of the United Kingdom’s Counter-Terrorism strategy (CONTEST). Based out of Hampshire, you will be connecting CT policing, neighbourhood policing and communities to stop individuals being exploited by extremists; working with local authority partners and community organisations to help find solutions and work to support and protect people vulnerable to radicalisation.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of a CTCO involve Case Management and Partnership Engagement.
Prevent CTCOs play a key role in assessing if cases are suitable for Local Authority led management within Channel Panel. Coordinating risk management between different organisations is an important part of this work, so a strong safeguarding background would be advantageous.
Your professional curiosity and investigative mindset will seek to explore opportunities for intelligence development and disruption where appropriate, focusing on early intervention against radicalisation and mitigation of risk to the public within CTP and alongside local Force departments.
Strong communication skills and proven risk management ability are essential for this role. You will be supported by a team of highly skilled and trained CTCO’s. This role offers potential for flexible working arrangements but does involve public interaction and conflict management.
Requirements
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may occasionally be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
