Police Lawyer Opportunities

Evolve Legal Services (ELS) is a unique legal collaboration delivering professional legal services on behalf of the Chief Constables of Cleveland Police, North Yorkshire Police and Durham Constabulary, alongside the Police and Crime Commissioners for Cleveland and Durham and the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

We are currently recruiting for two exciting Police Lawyer opportunities, offering the chance to undertake high-profile, complex and rewarding legal work that directly supports policing and public service delivery across the region.

Police Lawyer (Employment)

  • Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Part-time, 18.5 hours per week
  • Salary: £37,020 - £54,595 pro rata
  • Location: Based across ELS hubs in Peterlee, Durham HQ, Middlesbrough and Northallerton, with agile and home working options available

This role offers the opportunity to advise on a broad range of employment law matters, including employment litigation, workforce policy, police regulations and pensions, while supporting senior leaders on complex employment issues.

Police Lawyer (Operational)

  • Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Part-time, approximately 33.5 hours per week
  • Salary: £37,020 - £54,696 pro rata
  • Location: Based across ELS hubs in Peterlee, Durham HQ, Middlesbrough and Northallerton, with agile and home working options available
  • Requirement: Frequent court attendance required

This role focuses on operational policing law, advocacy and legal case management, advising on policing powers, public protection matters, civil orders, licensing and other operational legal issues.
