Company Description

Fastmarkets is an industry-leading price-reporting agency (PRA) and information provider for global commodities, providing price data, news, analytics and events for the agriculture, forest products, metals and mining and new-generation energy markets.

Fastmarkets' data is critical for customers seeking to understand and predict dynamic, sometimes opaque markets, enabling trading and risk management. Fastmarkets is a global business with a history dating back to 1865 and is built on trust and deep market knowledge. It has more than 700 employees spread across global locations in the UK, US, China, India, Singapore, Brazil, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland and beyond.

Job Description

The Role

This is a senior role within the Analytics organisation, responsible for building and leading a new cross-cutting capability that connects economic, trade and regulatory policy, and forward-looking scenario development to Fastmarkets’ commodity markets and benchmarks.

The Team Manager: Policy and Scenarios will shape a product portfolio spanning policy intelligence, energy transition and cross-commodity scenarios. The role is accountable for developing commercially successful, repeatable products that are relevant across Fastmarkets’ commodity verticals.

The role combines deep analytical capability with commercial judgement and external credibility. The successful candidate will speak with authority in their field – comfortable representing Fastmarkets to clients, at industry events, and in the media – while also building the internal frameworks and team that make cross-commodity policy and scenario analysis a sustainable, scalable function.

This role will lead a small outcomes focused team with potential to scale over time, reporting to the Chief Analytics Officer.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Build and lead a cross-cutting policy, scenarios, and economic analysis capability that serves all Fastmarkets commodity verticals.
  • Develop and own a portfolio of commercially viable, repeatable analytics products in the areas of trade and regulatory policy intelligence, energy transition, and cross-commodity scenario analysis.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent set of economic and policy scenarios and assumptions for use across Fastmarkets’ commodity forecasting teams, improving coherence and quality of analytical outputs.
  • Identify and communicate cross-commodity transmission effects from policy, macro, and geopolitical developments, providing insights that individual commodity teams cannot produce independently.
  • Apply microeconomic and competition frameworks to commodity market analysis, including market structure, pricing dynamics, trade distortions, and regulatory intervention.
  • Define and execute the commercial strategy for the function’s products, working with Product and Commercial teams to ensure outputs are positioned effectively within Fastmarkets’ bundling architecture and contribute to revenue growth.
  • Represent Fastmarkets externally as a thought leader on policy, energy transition, and scenario topics, including client engagements, conferences, webinars, and media.
  • Support consulting activity by contributing to or leading engagements where policy, scenario, or economic expertise adds value.
  • Build, develop, and manage a small team, setting priorities, maintaining quality standards, and scaling the function in line with commercial traction.
  • Collaborate effectively with commodity sector teams, editorial, product, and commercial functions, establishing clear interfaces and ways of working.
  • Contribute to the broader Analytics transformation, including new product development, operating model design, and strategic initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
