Policy Advisor

Future Biogas | Guildford, Surrey (Hybrid)
Murray McIntosh is proud to partner with Future Biogas, one of the UK's leading anaerobic digestion developers and operators, with 11 AD plants nationwide and over 175 employees. Established in 2010 and recently acquired by 3i Infrastructure plc, the business is entering its next phase of growth, developing pioneering projects that combine unsubsidised green gas and carbon sequestration to help organisations decarbonise their operations.

Future Biogas is now seeking a Policy Advisor to join its growing team and support the business at the forefront of the anaerobic digestion, biomethane and BECCS sectors.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Policy & ESG, you will play a key role in shaping and influencing policy across the renewable energy, agriculture and carbon capture landscape. This is a highly visible position offering significant autonomy, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence both business strategy and wider industry development.

You'll work across the business to provide policy insight, lead consultation responses, engage with government and industry bodies, and communicate complex policy developments in a clear and commercially relevant way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse UK and European policy, regulation and legislative developments across energy, agriculture, waste, planning, sustainability and carbon markets.
  • Track emerging areas of strategic importance including carbon capture, soil carbon sequestration, green gas, ESG and guarantees of origin.
  • Lead and coordinate consultation responses, gathering input from stakeholders across the business.
  • Represent Future Biogas at industry events, conferences, trade associations and working groups.
  • Build relationships with government departments, MPs, civil servants and industry bodies.
  • Support the identification of new commercial opportunities and contribute to responses to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Deliver policy updates, presentations and webinars to internal and external audiences.
  • Produce engaging articles and content on renewable energy, anaerobic digestion and the UK's journey towards net zero.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
