2 x Policy & Projects Officers, Grade 7
We’re looking for talented people to bring ideas and energy to our Strategy & Public Affairs Team at an exciting time for the city.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the intersection of local, regional and national government, taking on high-profile projects and helping shape the future of one of the UK’s leading cities.
Our Strategy & Public Affairs Team sits at the heart of the Council. We help develop strategies and policies that deliver Sheffield’s ambitions, bring together multidisciplinary teams to tackle complex problems, and make sure our work is delivering for Sheffield’s residents.
One week you could be helping develop a major city strategy. The next you might be tackling a difficult policy challenge, briefing senior leaders on a government announcement, or supporting engagement with Ministers and national partners.
We also help Sheffield make its voice heard, working with key regional and national partners and networks.
The Grade 7 roles will give you the opportunity to build your experience and get hands-on with policy, research, analysis, project management, briefings and partnership working.

We want people who can bring different experiences, perspectives and ideas, whether you’ve worked in frontline public services, local government, a mayoral strategic authority, the Civil Service, consultancy or the voluntary sector.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
