Base Location: Glasgow or Perth
Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent and Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available.
The Role
As a NESO Policy Manager, Strategic Planning, you will play a central part in shaping the future of the GB energy system with SSEN Transmission.
SSEN Transmission owns and operates the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, and your work will help ensure our interests are understood, represented, and aligned with National Energy System Operator’s (NESO) developing role.
Specifically, your role will focus on strategic energy planning and working with NESO as they develop strategic plans that will influence the evolution of the GB energy system to 2050.
You Will
- Support the development and maintenance of SSEN Transmission's policy positions on strategic planning matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and wider strategic priorities.
- Coordinate and deliver clear, accurate, and high-quality submissions, consultation responses, and information requests to NESO and other key stakeholders in relation to strategic planning.
- Analyse policy and regulatory developments, advising on their potential impact and communicating risks and opportunities.
- Support senior leaders and specialists by identifying and clearly communicating risks, opportunities, and implications associated with various strategic planning initiatives.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners, facilitating collaboration and information sharing.

You Have
- A strong understanding of GB electricity markets and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in energy policy, regulation, strategic planning, market design, network development, or related areas within the energy sector.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
- The ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- A collaborative and productive mindset and the confidence to influence outcomes across teams.

But that's not all – we're upgrading the grid to deliver cleaner, homegrown power for the future and building the infrastructure needed for a cleaner electricity system to create secure power for generations to come.
