About the Role

The Policy Support Officer plays a key role in supporting CIPFA’s Public Financial Management Directorate by contributing to the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality policy work. The postholder provides research, analysis, and administrative support to enable the Senior Policy Manager and wider policy team to deliver CIPFA’s strategic objectives. This includes supporting events, preparing briefings, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including arranging meetings, maintaining contact lists, and supporting relationship-building activities.
  • Provide project support to the Senior Policy Manager and wider policy team, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and effective communication across projects.
  • Draft internal and external communications related to policy work, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to project tracking, and ensure documentation is organised and accessible.
  • Carry out independent research and delivery of reports including presentation to stakeholders.
  • Support the organisation of events, roundtables, and workshops by providing administrative and logistical coordination.

About You

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or practical experience in a similar role.
  • Experience conducting structured research, using a range of sources to gather, analyse, and synthesise information.
  • Demonstrated experience providing high-quality administrative support.
  • Proven experience contributing to the preparation of briefings, reports, or analytical outputs.
