Role Description
KNTC is looking to onboard experienced, self-sufficient two-person poling crews for an exciting upcoming telecoms contract covering the Home Counties and South West England.
This is a contract, field-based opportunity supporting the installation, replacement and maintenance of telecommunications poles and associated overhead infrastructure across both fibre and copper networks.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Installing, replacing and safely removing telegraph poles
- Preparing pole locations, excavating pole holes and completing reinstatement
- Operating and supporting Pole Erection Units and HIAB lifting equipment
- Pole dressing and installation of associated overhead equipment
- Working at height using approved climbing and fall-protection equipment
- Inspecting poles, fittings and equipment before and after installation
- Completing site-specific risk assessments and following approved RAMS
- Maintaining compliant signing, lighting and guarding around the work area
- Recording completed works, photographs, hazards and any changes from the job pack
- Working closely with KNTC supervisors, planners and field engineers
- Maintaining a professional approach when dealing with clients and members of the public

Crews must be experienced, productive and capable of completing works safely and to the required Openreach and KNTC standards.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience delivering poling and overhead works on the Openreach network
- Relevant, current Openreach / PIA and Smart Awards accreditations for the works undertaken
- Each crew must include an operative holding an HGV Class 2 licence and valid Driver CPC for the Pole Erection Unit
- At least one operative within each crew must hold NRSWA accreditation at Operative level, including CAT and Genny training
- Full UK driving licences
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, working at height and safe systems of work
- Ability to understand job packs, risk assessments, utility drawings and work instructions
- Full understanding of PPE requirements, exclusion zones and site-specific safety controls
- Ability to operate as a reliable and self-sufficient two-person crew
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required

Desirable Qualifications
- NPORS or recognised Lorry Loader / HIAB qualification
- IPAF 1B or equivalent MEWP accreditation
- Additional overhead, rigging or pole-climbing accreditations
- Experience working across fibre, copper and PIA delivery programmes
