Job Title: Political Assistant (Labour)

Fixed Term Contract to May 2030

About Us

We are proud of our borough and ambitious for our future. Our Greenwich Plan sets out our vision, focusing on the changes we collectively want to see in our borough and Council.

About The Role

This is a unique and interesting opportunity to work at the heart of the Council’s democratic and political centre. Working in the Leader’s Office, as part of the Council’s Legal and Democratic Services team, you will provide professional, organisational and advisory support to the Labour Party Group.

This is a wide-ranging, stimulating role, providing support, detailed research, analysis, briefings and written reports to the Council Leader, Deputy Leader and wider elected members of the Party.

Due to the nature of the job, it requires a willingness to work flexibly in order to meet priorities and deadlines and includes attending evening meetings and undertaking work outside of normal office hours as required.

About You

With your knowledge of the political landscape, you’ll also bring experience of providing expert advice, strong research skills and support to Councillors across a broad range of areas and disciplines.

You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate effective communication, to inform and influence a wide range of colleagues, stakeholders and partners.

Alongside your effective relationship management skills you’ll also have the ability to work on own initiative, under pressure and manage sensitive situations and conflict.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
