- Starting Salary: Real Living Wage
- Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm, Friday, 8:00am - 2:00pm.
- Flexi Fridays: Build up additional hours during the week for the opportunity to take selected Fridays off.

Key Responsibilities
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Polymer Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to join the team, supporting the manufacture of high-quality plastic components through precision injection and compression moulding. You'll learn how to operate and monitor production processes, work safely with specialist machinery and materials, and contribute to the efficient production of components that meet the highest quality standards.
This apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for a career in advanced manufacturing and engineering. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll develop a broad range of practical, technical and problem-solving skills while gaining valuable industry experience in a supportive environment with opportunities for long-term career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn how to set up and operate injection and compression moulding machines under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
- Assist with preparing, installing and removing mould tools ready for production.
- Support the loading of raw materials and monitor manufacturing processes to help produce high-quality plastic components.
- Carry out routine quality checks to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Help complete production records and maintain accurate documentation.
- Assist with cleaning, maintaining and preparing machinery, tools and equipment for safe operation.
- Support mould changes and production changeovers to keep manufacturing running efficiently.
- Learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting techniques to help identify and resolve production issues.
- Work with the tool room and finishing departments to develop a broad understanding of the manufacturing process.
- Follow all health, safety, quality and environmental procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across different departments to support production activities and continuous improvement.

So how does the apprenticeship work?
Start your career as a polymer manufacturing technician and gain hands-on experience supporting production in a modern manufacturing environment.
As part of this Level 3 Polymer Processing Technician apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to set up, run, and monitor polymer processing equipment, control materials and processes, and contribute to producing high-quality plastic and rubber products.

Over 22 months, you’ll combine day-to-day experience in your role with structured training delivered by expert tutors at Tiro. Our blended learning approach includes a mix of online sessions, in-person training, and hands-on support, alongside guidance from a dedicated mentor in the workplace.
You’ll spend at least 6 hours per week on off-the-job training, including virtual learning, practical activities, and applied assignments.

You’ll follow a structured programme combining live sessions, online learning, and hands-on workplace training to build your skills step by step.
What could your future look like?
This apprenticeship will help you build the skills and experience needed to start your career as a polymer manufacturing technician and progress within the manufacturing industry.
Through hands-on training, you’ll develop the competence and confidence to operate and optimise production processes, monitor performance, and respond to issues in real time. You’ll play a key role in maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency across manufacturing operations. This programme can also lead to professional recognition, such as becoming a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).
You’ll gain experience that’s highly valued across a wide range of manufacturing and production roles, opening up opportunities to grow and specialise within polymer processing and related technical fields.
