Poptop Roof Installer / Campervan Conversion Technician:
VAN-LIDZ Ltd – Peterlee, County Durham
VAN-LIDZ is looking for 2 reliable and hardworking people to join our growing team installing poptop roof systems and carrying out campervan conversion work.
We manufacture and install our own poptop roof systems and work on customers’ vans every day, so we are looking for practical, hands-on people who take pride in their work and can work efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
Experience within campervan conversions, vehicle fitting, joinery, automotive work or poptop roof installation would be a major advantage. However, we would also consider someone from a similar practical background who has the right attitude and ability to learn.
The Role
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Installing VAN-LIDZ poptop roof systems onto customers’ vans
- Cutting and preparing vehicle roofs for poptop installations
- Fitting roof frames, strengthening systems and associated components
- Installing poptop beds, roof trims, headlining and interior finishing
- Carrying out campervan conversion work
- Removing and refitting vehicle interior components
- Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment
- Measuring, drilling, cutting and fitting components accurately
- Moving and lifting poptop roofs and other large components as part of a team
- Checking completed work to ensure installations meet our quality standards
- Keeping your work area clean, tidy and organised
- Following company procedures and all health and safety requirements

What We’re Looking For
Applicants must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Be reliable and punctual
- Have a good work ethic and be willing to work hard
- Be physically fit and comfortable lifting and carrying equipment
- Be confident using hand tools and power tools
- Have good practical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to follow instructions accurately
- Be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Take pride in producing high-quality work
- Be respectful towards colleagues, customers and customers’ vehicles
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
- Be able to work well as part of a team

Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following would be particularly useful:
- Poptop roof installation
- Campervan or motorhome conversions
- Vehicle fitting
- Automotive bodywork
- Coachbuilding
- Joinery or carpentry
- Vehicle interiors
- Van racking or vehicle accessory installation
- Mechanical or fabrication work
Previous poptop or campervan conversion experience is preferred but isn’t essential for the right person.
