Port Cost Control Specialist

Your Purpose
The role of our Port Cost Control Specialist is to support the Port Cost Control Manager, the Port Services Commercial Managers, and the Director of Port Operations in all activities related to cost control and saving initiatives. This role also works alongside the Port Cost Control Manager to provide monthly analysis, monitoring, and justification of discrepancies between Actual and Forecast.
Your Impact
- Monitors porter charges, supporting the Port Cost Control Manager and Port Services Commercial Manager with follow-up on tariff increases and saving opportunities.
- Inputs data for the Budget in the Port Costs tool and collaborates with the Director of Port Operations and Port Services Commercial Manager in the preparation of Budget and Quarterly Meetings presentations.
- Coordinates with the Port Costs Manager to provide missing preliminaries D/A at the end of each month for the Group Controlling Team to complete monthly Actual reports.
- Attends monthly internal meetings and Finance department discussions on Actual vs. Forecast variances, sharing findings with the Geneva Group Controlling team.
- Calculates the impact on Budget due to tariff variances and new operational needs, assisting the Port Cost Control Manager and Port Services Commercial Manager with extra-budget requests.
- Ensures the Port Cost system includes all preferential economic conditions agreed with Port Authorities, Terminal Operators, Suppliers, and MSC Cargo in coordination with the Port Services Commercial Manager.
- Supports Corporate Planning and Group Controlling with itinerary or new project cost studies, providing single port/itinerary cost breakdowns.
- Supervises the Proforma data from port agencies, verifying they align with official/agreed tariffs and operational needs.
- Maintains the port tariff database, ensuring it is updated with all necessary tariffs required by the Disbursement of Account Department for invoice checks.
- Supports Disbursement of Account, approving or rejecting costs not previously announced, investigating operational reasons and redirecting concerns via GEA portal.
- Reviews and coordinates cost allocations with the Disbursement of Account department, ensuring adherence to macro categories.
- Supports the Port Cost Control Manager in providing detailed info for new projects/tools development by the IT Department.
- Attends meetings with Port Authorities and service suppliers, lending support to the Director of Port Operations and Port Services Commercial Manager if required.
- Aids the Environmental team with operational tariff-baed suggestions for improved conditions.
- Covers all aspects of the Port Cost Team during annual leaves or team member absences.
