Vacancy - Port Operative (Permanent Nights)
Are you excited by the opportunity to work in a fast paced, varied role? Do you want to join one of the UKs leading Port Operators in a role with progression opportunities from day one? We are seeking dedicated Port Operatives to join us working rotational shifts to help us ensure efficient and effective operation of our Containers terminal!
Your Role
In this role you will work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner. Ensuring on-time delivery of planned activity, continuous flow of productivity and high customer satisfaction levels.
You will start as Entry Level Port Operative (Shiphand, a labouring role) undertaking an NVQ Level 2 in Port Operations, with the expectation to progress into other roles, which may include:
- Tug Driver
- Straddle Carrier Operator
- Fork Lift Truck Driver
- Gantry Crane Operator
- Hatch Clerk
What you'll bring
You will:
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team efficiently;
- Have a positive approach towards flexible working and the necessity to work as per operational requirements (working a 5 on 3 off shift pattern);
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job;
- Be able to understand and accurately follow management instructions and procedures, with awareness of Health and Safety and adherence to our Safety 365 policies and procedures;
- A full driving licence is essential for this role. Possession of a HGV or Forklift Truck licence or previous experience would also be an advantage.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing, prior to starting along with Manual Handling and Working at Height training assessments during your training period.
