Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a committed and compassionate Portage Home Visitor to provide high-quality early intervention and developmental support for children aged 0 to 4 years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), developmental delay and complex needs. Working in accordance with National Portage Association principles, the SEND Code of Practice and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, the postholder will play a key role in promoting positive outcomes for children and their families during the crucial early years of development.

The Portage Home Visitor will work in partnership with parents, carers, early years settings and a range of multi-agency professionals to support children's learning, development, participation and inclusion. Through the delivery of structured Portage home visits, group-based interventions and community-based support, the postholder will help children develop essential skills and achieve goals tailored to their needs.

A central aspect of the role is empowering parents and carers by building their confidence and capacity to support their child's development through practical strategies, collaborative planning and the effective use of everyday learning opportunities. The successful candidate will foster positive relationships with families, providing guidance, encouragement and specialist support while promoting a child-centred and family-focused approach.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
