Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Portal Steel Frame & Modular Building Installer to join our installation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient erection of portal steel frame structures and the installation of modular buildings across a range of commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, and infrastructure projects.
The role requires a strong understanding of structural steelwork installation, modular construction methodologies, health and safety compliance, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary site team to deliver projects on time and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced installer with a background in both steel frame erection and modular construction, looking to work on high-profile projects across multiple sectors throughout the UK.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities
Portal Steel Frame Installation
- Proven experience in portal steel frame erection and installation.
- Demonstrable experience installing modular buildings or volumetric modular units.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation specifications.
- Experience working with cranes and lifting operations.
- Strong awareness of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Ability to work at height and in physically demanding environments.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
Modular Building Installation
- Position, align, and connect modular units using approved installation procedures.
- Complete structural connections between modules, including floor, wall, and roof interfaces.
- Carry out weatherproofing and sealing works between modules.
- Install modular access systems, roofing components, skirting, and external finishes.
- Assist with internal finishing works and building commissioning activities where required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and site-specific requirements.
- Conduct work in accordance with RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Use PPE correctly and maintain safe working practices at all times.
- Participate in site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.
- Report hazards, accidents, near misses, and defective equipment promptly.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all installation works meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and report installation issues, defects, or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of completed works and quality inspections.
- Support snagging and remedial works as required.

Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with Site Managers, Crane Supervisors, Appointed Persons, and subcontractors.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, installation manuals, and lifting plans.
- Communicate effectively with clients and site representatives when required.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior installers.
Preferred Qualifications
- CSCS Card.
- CPCS Crane Supervisor (desirable)
- CPCS Slinger/Signaller.
- CPCS Telehandler.
- IPAF 3a/3b.
- PASMA.
- Working at Height Training.
- Manual Handling Training.
- First Aid at Work.
- SSSTS (desirable).
