Overview Of Role

A Linen Porter manages the collection, sorting, and delivery of clean and soiled linens. They ensure linen stocks are maintained and report any issues with inventory. Responsibilities include operating laundry equipment, adhering to hygiene standards, and coordinating with housekeeping to meet luxury standards. Attention to detail, organization, and efficient time management are key to maintaining high service levels.

Expectations

The Linen Porter is expected to:

  • Collect, sort, and deliver clean and soiled linens to appropriate areas.
  • Monitor linen inventory levels and report shortages or damage.
  • Inspect linens for cleanliness, wear, and damage before distribution.
  • Maintain a well-organized linen storage area.
  • Follow health and safety standards and departmental procedures.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping and other departments for efficient linen handling.
  • Operate and maintain laundry and linen handling equipment properly.
  • Address and resolve any linen-related issues or special requests from guests.
  • Be professional at all times
  • Be a positive ambassador of The NoMad throughout your professional career with us.
  • Always adhere to company policies and procedures, including but not exclusive of; H&S policies, HR policies; employee handbook.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Linen Porter are summarised as below; however, the list is not exhaustive:

  • Support the Housekeeping Management team with a range of duties including the distribution of linen and other products throughout the hotel
  • Assist with the general cleaning of guest areas ensuring that they are clean, free of refuse, well maintained and staged appropriately
  • Upkeep and general presentation of guest corridors, linen cupboards and back of house service areas
  • Carry out inventory of linen, goods, and equipment
  • Take note of missing supplies and notify the Housekeeping Management immediately if any discrepancies have been found
  • Replenish the Room Attendant cupboard on a regular basis
  • Deliver Guest request items to the rooms as per Hotel Procedure.
  • Check all goods received against the order made, report immediately to the Housekeeping Management if there are any discrepancies
  • Ensure all the goods are stored following FIFO and health and safety regulations
  • Clean equipment after each use
  • Perform regular deep cleaning of all areas of hotel as instructed
  • To perform any additional task required as per business needs.
  • Perform all duties with care towards our guests always ensuring utmost guest satisfaction.
  • Interact with guests in a caring respective and positive manner.
  • To always follow H&S and Standard Operating Procedures.
